Euless Police say the widow of an officer who died in a car crash last month has been moved out of ICU. The crash November 27 killed off-duty officer Alex Cervantes and injured his wife and two kids.
The family was driving in Lake Worth when police say a suspected drunk driver ran a red light and hit them.
Cervantes' wife, Priscilla, went to the hospital in critical condition. Their two kids had serious injuries.
Euless Police say Priscilla Cervantes regained consciousness last weekend. She has now been moved out of ICU and into a regular hospital room.
Euless Police say she has started regaining strength and was able to talk with family in her room.
"Though she has a very long road to recovery, her doctors are very pleased with her progress as she continues to make strides in her healing process," the department wrote in a statement.
The department says the couple's two sons have been released from Cook Children's. They are now recovering at home with relatives "and have kept a positive attitude considering what they have been through."
The suspect, Dylan Molina, 26, has been charged with intoxication manslaughter and three counts of intoxication assault. Police say he tried to flee after the crash, but bystanders stopped him. Police say his blood-alcohol level was .16, twice the legal limit.
