Dallas police have arrested a man they believe dumped a dog in southeast Dallas after the incident was caught on video and quickly began to circulate online.

On Saturday morning, officers with the Dallas Police Department executed a search warrant at the home of 41-year-old Ramiro Zuniga.

Investigators say Zuniga can allegedly be seen in a now-viral video that shows a man dumping a dog in the 9000 block of Teagarden Road, near Dowdy Ferry, on March 8.

Zuniga has been charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals by abandonment. If found guilty, Zuniga faces a punishment of up to one year in jail, a fine of up to $4,000, or both jail time and a fine.

According to court records, Zuniga is being held on an immigration warrant as well, meaning he will not be allowed to bond out of jail while he awaits trial.
