On the day of his wife’s disappearance, Massachusetts police say Brian Walshe searched over a dozen different phrases on the internet, googling such topics as “How long before a body starts to smell?” and “10 ways to dispose of a dead body if you really need to.”

“How to stop a body from decomposing” and an article on dismembering a corpse were also among Walshe’s reading material that day, and he continued to perform similar searches for the next two days after his wife Ana went missing.

Those revelations were made by Norfolk Assistant D.A. Lynn Beland on Wednesday as the state made its case at a hearing for Walshe, who was charged with murder the day before his appearance in court.

“Rather than divorce, it is believed that Brian Walshe dismembered Ana Walshe and discarded her body,” Beland said.

39-year-old Ana Walshe, a mother of three, was first reported missing by her employer rather than her husband on January 4, according to police logs, 72 hours after the last time she was seen at her home.

Brian Walshe, 47, was caught on surveillance footage at a Home Depot on January 2 buying $450 worth of cleaning supplies. He initially told authorities he was 40 miles away at that time.

So far, the body of Ana Walshe, alive or dead, has yet to be found.
