The special session showdown continues between Texas Republicans and Democrats over the controversial voting bills.

Republican Representative Matt Krause says they are still meeting, but there's only so much they can do.

Some Republicans are now demanding that Democrats that fled to Washington D.C. repay the $221 daily allowance they get for expenses during the special session. The $221 per diem is on top of the $600 salary each representative gets per-month for being part-time legislators.

According to reports, each lawmaker stands to make about $7,200 in Texas taxpayer money during the 30-day special session.

Democrats say they’ll stay out of the state until the 30-day special session ends.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott says he’ll call more special sessions until they return to the state and vote. So right now, it’s a mystery when all of this will come to an end.

The missing Democrats could also be detained when they return to Texas, and held in the Capitol building until the session is over.
