A 36-year-old Harris County man has had his bond set at $650,000 for allegedly fatally shooting his mother, before dismembering her body.

According to KPRC, the accused, Robert Barnes, allegedly placed his mother, 72-year-old Lucila Barnes' body in a crate in the garage he had made a month earlier. Later, the victim's sister came to check on Lucila, at which point Robert exited the home with an AK rifle instructing her to leave. He told her that he had taken Lucila to the airport.

KPRC went on to say that on Wednesday, October 21st Lucila's family contacted the police as they hadn't been able to contact her. Robert was subsequently unable to tell officers where exactly he had taken his mother, providing them with "several conflicting stories."

On October 22nd, the house in the 11100 block of Cactus Point Court in northwestern Harris County was searched and Lucila's body was discovered.

KPRC say Robert has been charged with murder and tampering with evidence. He confessed to murdering his mother and dismembering her body in a probable case hearing, according to the court documents.
