Heat Advisories and Excessive Heat Warnings are up for nearly all of Texas with the exception of about 20 counties in the Panhandle, and 17 along the Rio Grande.

The Texas A&M Forest Service reports five wildfires in Palo Pinto, Somervell, Hays, Gonzales and Jackson counties. Fire danger is rated high to very high in two-thirds of Texas.

The Palo Pinto County Bosley fire is about 40 percent contained and the Somervell County Rhino fire is 50 percent contained.

The Forest Service says our persistent triple digit temperatures have resulted in widespread fuel dryness. So-called "timber litter fuels" will be receptive to being ignited this week in the Cross Timbers, Eastern Hill Country, Central Texas, Western Pineywoods and Southeast Texas.

Furthermore, wildfires may flare up in the Trans Pecos, Western Hill Country and South Texas this week in areas with dry grasses that are exposed to high temperatures, dry air and increased wind speeds.
