Remnants of Tropical Storm Harold are lashing West Texas with heavy rain

The remnants of Tropical Storm Harold are pushing up the Rio Grande Valley into far West Texas today.

So much rain is falling a Flood Watch is posted for the area from the Big Bend up into southeast New Mexico.

The storm made landfall Tuesday morning at Padre Island near Corpus Tuesday, causing flooding in parts of the city and surrounding area. The storm also knocked out power all around Corpus Christi Bay and as far inland as San Patricio and Falfurrias.

By afternoon, Harold had already delivered up to two inches of rain in many place along the Texas coast. As much as seven inches fell on Mustang Island.

By Tuesday evening the storm had weakened to a tropical depression but heavy rain continues today.

Harold, which follows the storms Emily, Franklin and Gert, is the first storm of the Atlantic Hurricane season to make landfall.
