The State Board of Education has reversed an earlier vote and recommended one book dealing with sexual education in the classroom.
The board voted down a book by publisher Goodheart-Wilcox in a preliminary vote earlier this week, but has approved the measure in a final vote. Board member Pat Hardy says the publisher has made changes since a preliminary vote earlier this week.
Lawrence Allen said the board had a responsibility to make recommendations to school districts, saying that would send a message to publishers there's no point in presenting material to the group.
But a book by another publisher for elementary students was rejected 6-6.
