It's been three years today since the El Paso Walmart shooting that killed 23 and wounded 23 more, and the accused killer is still in jail awaiting trial.
On August 3rd in 2019, a man drove to the Walmart store on Gateway West Boulevard on the east side of El Paso and began to fire his rifle indiscriminately.
After the shooting, a North Texas man named Patrick Crusius, drove a few blocks where he identified himself as the shooter and surrendered to Texas Rangers and an El Paso police officer.
Prosecutors say an anti-Hispanic, anti-immigrant manifesto found online has been connected to Crusius.
Even though it's been three years, his trial has yet to begin. Some of the delay is blamed on the Coronavirus outbreak. But his lawyers say they need even more time to go through the huge amount of evidence.
