Inflation has hit a lot of Americans hard, and more people have a harder time feeding their families. That's why more are turning to Food Stamp programs.

New research from 24/7 Wall Street finds that Texas has been hit hard, and more Texans are on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) than most other areas.

It finds the highest percentage of people that get food stamps are in the Valley, McAllen-Edinburg-Mission. Almost 28 and a half percent of Texan households receive benefits. 28.4 percent are also living under the poverty line. Unemployment is at eight percent.

Second, on the list is Laredo with 24 and a half percent getting Food Stamps.
Brownsville and Harlingen tied with El Centro, California for third-worst with 23 and a half percent getting help. El Paso is 10th overall with more than 20 percent.
