The Texas DMV says it rejected over 5,000 requests for personalized license plates last year, often because someone tried to sneak some naughty words past the censors.
Some people try to game the system by omitting or adding letters, creatively using symbols and disguising forbidden phrases by using abbreviations for a vulgar phrase like "AF."
Drug themed plates are also forbidden like spelling "cocaine" with k's instead of c's.
Phrases relating to race, ethnicity and gender are also not allowed, even if they're not derogatory. Also, don't try to make a reference to government officials like F-BDN and 4MAGA, both of which were vetoed by the agency in 2022.
Even some seemingly harmless requests were nixed like MR.CRAZY and SADGRL. The bottom line is, just keep it clean and keep it friendly.
