With Spring in full force, and Summer right around the corner, many Texans have begun enjoying outdoor activities more and more. Of course, for as much as Texans love checking out bluebonnets, or heading to the lake for the day, sometimes venturing outside means extra precautions for wildlife.
One Texas man recently learned that the hard way as he was airlifted to a hospital after being bit by a rattlesnake in his own backyard.
Over the weekend, the Lake Travis Fire Rescue was called after a man was reportedly bit by a deadly rattlesnake. The snake was only one foot long, but sunk its fangs into the man’s leg as he was heading to his garden shed to get his lawnmower. According to Newsweek, the man was transported to the hospital via helicopter, where his bite was treated.
The Lake Travis Fire Rescue later took to social media to warn locals about the dangers of rattlesnakes this time of year. “Most snake bites occur between the months of April and October when snakes and humans are most active outdoors," said the rescue service. While nice weather is always a plus, it’s important to remember to stay on the lookout for rattlesnakes and other wildlife.
