A 60 hour off and on rain event will be unfolding later on this afternoon and evening. Average rainfall totals will be between 2" and 3" but isolated higher totals are possible through Friday morning.
Nothing showing up on radar right now, but that will change later on this afternoon and evening. Temperatures are starting off very mild for this time with a are with readings near 70゚. If we're lucky we'll see a peak or 2 of afternoon sunshine with high temperatures approaching 80゚
The best storm chances, and some will be severe, will be to the northwest of DFW, as a strong cap is in place. This will inhibit surface based (severe)thunderstorms from forming across the immediate DFW area. The best chances for severe storms will be well to the west and NW this afternoon and evening. Another area of heavy rain will develop to our south and will affect areas SE of a Canton to Hillsboro this afternoon and evening.
Our next chance of storms arrives late tomorrow morning through the afternoon. A few storms could become severe. The heaviest rain will arrive late tomorrow evening through lunchtime on Thursday.
There is still a chance for some shower activity in the cooler air mass late Thursday into early Friday as the upper level low passes through the area. The high temperature on Thursday will be in the morning hours, low 70s, then we fall through the sixties during the afternoon... with a borth wind gusting to 25 mph.
Skies will clear by Friday afternoon with highs in the low to mid seventies.
The weekend looks fantastic with plenty of sunshine. Near 80゚ on Saturday, warming into the middle eighties by Sunday. Possibly some upper eighties by next Monday.
This doesn't look like a major severe weather event coming up, but I will monitor as usual.
