A strong upper level ridge of high pressure will continue to dominate our weather across north Texas for the next 7 days. We typically see this type of weather pattern in July and August. We can thank the humidity over the next several days, keeping us from shattering record high temperatures, but we'll come very close each day.
We're starting off this morning in the low to mid seventies with low clouds sneaking in from the south. These clouds will rapidly burn off by mid morning. Sunshine, a gusty southerly wind up to 30 mph, a ton of humidity, and highs in the mid nineties is our weather today. Heat index values will be near 100°. There is a VERY slight chance of a late day strong storm west DFW.
No changes in our summer-like weather pattern through the rest of the week into the upcoming weekend. Morning lows will be in the low to mid 70s, afternoon highs will reach the low to mid nineties. Heat index values will approach 100° each day. Wind will be from the south at 15-25 mph. There's also a very slight chance of a late day storm tomorrow through Wednesday, but well to the west of DFW.
By this weekend, a weak cold front will try to cross the Red River. This may bring temperatures down into the 80s next week and cause a few thunderstorms to form close to north Texas. Fingers crossed!
In the meantime, please stay hydrated, take frequent breaks, dress appropriately, wear sunscreen and a hat when working outdoors for an extended period of time. Our bodies are not acclimated to this type of heat, this early in the year.
