Carson Wentz artwork removed from Lincoln Financial Field

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Something that became an eyesore for many Eagles fans finally left the outer facade of Lincoln Financial Field in South Philadelphia.

It’s past mid-July, yet up until Monday, a banner of now-departed Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz still was hanging outside the Linc.

You could see the image of the quarterback, whom the Eagles agreed to trade to the Indianapolis Colts in February, as you drove past the sports complex on I-95.

The banner is finally gone.

Fans at the Eagles Pro Shop, including Sean Holden, said it was about time.

"Being down here today and seeing it not there, it’s kind of like a welcome relief," Holden said.

“We look back at the time he had in 2017 when we went to the Super Bowl and win it. We’ll always be grateful for that, but he’s gone and out of here. I’m done with him. The city is done with him. We have a new season ahead of us.”

The only fan we found who seemed a little upset was Al Calhoun, but his issue was more about how Wentz’s Eagles career came to an end than anything else.

“I wish him well in Indianapolis, but that’s sure a disappointment he didn’t have more chutzpah," Calhoun lamented.

“We have to move on.”

Holden suggested a Jason Kelce banner.

“He embodies everything you want in Philadelphia," Holden said.

"He’s the toughest guy out there. He’s the leader of the team. We love him. For me, I would love to see Jason Kelce up there. I think the most important part is (that) you put somebody up there who is respected.”
