Sirianni assures Eagles fans of little faith: 'We're working on righting the ship'

'Do I want to run the ball more? Absolutely,' he said. 'Absolutely, and that's my job to get that fixed.'

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Jalen Hurts heroically tried to take the heat for the Eagles' loss to the Dallas Cowboys this week, but some observers say the blame should be split between the quarterback and rookie head coach Nick Sirianni.

The Eagles rushed the ball with a running back only three times against the Cowboys. Sirianni was on WIP on Wednesday morning to re-iterate that the situation Monday night called for that decision, but he acknowledged something important.

"Hey, do I want to run the ball more? Absolutely," he said. "Absolutely, and that's my job to get that fixed."

It is widely reported that the Eagles top brass prefer passing plays, so WIP's Angelo Cataldi asked Sirianni, "Do your bosses have an influence on how many times you run and now many times you pass?"

Sirianni was quick to deny it.

"Oh, no. What I gotta do is call the plays that I think are gonna be the best plays to win the football game," he said.

And Sirianni said he's had nothing but support from the people above him. The fans, however, he recognizes, may have lost confidence in him.

"It's a young season. We're early in the season. We're working on righting the ship and, again, we're only three games into this thing," Sirianni said.

But their schedule coming up is tough. The four teams they're facing nexgt have combined records of 9-3. It could get really ugly unless the Eagles improve, and quickly.
