PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police are investigating after a baby was shot Sunday morning in the Kensington section of the city.
Family and friends stood in shock outside the home along Ontario Street, near Emerald Street, after authorities said a 1-year-old child was shot in the hand just before 11 a.m.
They asked that their privacy be respected during this time.
Police are still trying to piece together events. However, the child's family said the shooter is known to them. Before they drove away, someone was able to write down the license plate number of their car.
The child was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children and is now in stable condition.
No weapons were recovered and no arrests have been made, but family members said they were confident the shooter would be found.
