PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Delaware County District Attorney has identified the young girl who was killed during a shooting at a football game Friday night at Academy Park High School.
“On Friday night, a terrible tragedy occurred – the senseless death of eight-year-old Fanta Bility," said Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer. "Our thoughts and prayers remain with her family and friends at this most difficult time."
Stollsteimer said authorities are investigating the shootings, including "initial shots fired by civilians in the area surrounding the football stadium" and police shooting their weapons afterward.
Officials said the gunfire erupted shortly before 9 p.m. Friday near the main gate to the football field at Academy Park High School in Sharon Hill shortly after the conclusion of the game between Pennsbury and Academy Park high schools.
Fans, players and coaches ran for cover, and police from multiple Delaware County communities descended upon the school within minutes.
No individuals were in custody as of Monday afternoon.
The District Attorney's office asked anyone with information about the shooting to call the county's detective office at 610-891-8030.
