Jay Howe, 36, was taken into custody on Feb. 9, according to the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office. He was arrested after a search of his home in Kennebec Court in Bordentown.

Several electronic devices were seized as part of the search. Investigators say he was using an app to send and receive videos of child sexual abuse.

Police were first tipped off to his alleged illegal activities online by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Authorities say Howe is a member of the Bordentown City Fire Department.

He is being held in the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly pending a detention hearing.
