SOUTH JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — A Pemberton woman has been charged with driving while impaired and causing a head-on collision that killed a 17-year-old driver last month.

Burlington County authorities said 54-year-old Wanda Sprague was drinking at a bar on Dec. 16 in Browns Mills. They said she didn’t turn on her headlights prior to the incident that killed Pemberton teen Kayla Bowen, which happened on Lakehurst Road near Rancocas Lane shortly after 9 p.m.

Bowen was pronounced dead at the scene.

At one point, Sprague was driving more than 90 mph, officials said.

Sprague suffered serious injuries as well and is still recovering.

Charges have been filed against her, including reckless manslaughter and vehicular homicide.

The judge ordered Sprague not to have any contact with the victim’s family. The case is now being prepared for a grand jury for indictment.
