MOORESTOWN, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — New Jersey Republican candidate for governor Jack Ciattarelli has introduced his running mate, Diane Allen.
"Jack and Diane," as they have marketed themselves, said at an introduction event that they are the change New Jersey needs.
"Thank you, Jack, for choosing me," said Allen during the announcement on Wednesday.
Ciattarelli believes Allen, a Burlington County state senator from 1998-2018 and a former news anchor at KYW-TV and WCAU-TV, brings plenty to the table as a potential lieutenant governor.
She said she came out of retirement when Ciattarelli called to join him, and she and her husband knew it was the right move.
"When he called oh so recently, this was not something that was in the works," Allen said.
"I want to be clear with you. Sam and I looked at each other and thought about all of those things I just enumerated that were going wrong, and Sam said 'You've got to do this.'"
She said she’s unhappy with a lot of things Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy has been doing, and is looking forward to working with Ciattarelli to, as she put it, fix New Jersey.
Murphy has already announced Shelia Oliver will continue as his lieutenant governor.
