PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- The man accused of shooting and killing a grandfather who was driving by Lincoln High School on Monday afternoon has been charged with murder, attempted murder and related offenses.
Authorities say Aaron Scott fired the gun that hit 66-year-old Jeff Carter in the head, killing him, as he drove past the school at Rowland and Ryan avenues in Northeast Philadelphia.
They say Scott also shot in the head a 16-year-old Lincoln High student who was running away from the bullets. He continues to fight for his life at the hospital.
The shooting happened just before 3 p.m., as school was letting out. Police say there had been some sort of argument on the street among the teens, 21-year-old Scott, and his 16-year-old brother in front of a pizza shop and mini mart. When Scott pulled the gun, the teens ran.
Two officers who happened to be at the corner say they heard the shots and saw the kids running. They were in an unmarked car, dressed in regular street clothes, patrolling as school let out.
They immediately arrested Scott, took his brother into custody and recovered the gun.

Carter, an alumnus of Lincoln High, and retiree, died at the hospital. According to his Facebook page, he was a grandfather who loved to garden, fish, grill and listen to music.
The 16-year-old victim remains in critical condition.
