PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 26-year-old man is charged with hiding cameras in changing rooms at the King of Prussia Mall.
Upper Merion police say on July 3, a pen camera was found clipped to a curtain in the Hollister dressing room by a 14-year-old who had just tried on clothes.
She turned it over to store employees.
According to the criminal complaint, a man later identified as Joseph Stevenson from Smyrna, Delaware, bought something later that afternoon from the store and asked if anyone found a pen in the dressing room.
The manager told Stevenson they knew the pen was also a camera and he would not be getting it back.
The complaint says Stevenson told the manager that it’s more of a pen than it is a camera, but the manager said no.
Police say Stevenson used his loyalty card under his name at the time of purchase.
The complaint says Stevenson admitted to placing the camera at Hollister and another one in Urban Outfitters’ changing room. That one was found by a store employee.
Stevenson is facing nine counts each of invasion of privacy, disorderly conduct and felony wiretap violations. He has been released on $10,000 bail.
Police say anyone seen in the recorded videos has been identified and contacted.
