PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — As Philadelphia wrestles with violent crime, city officials have been criticized for not working together. Mayor Jim Kenney pushed back on the critics during a press briefing this week.

There has been a very apparent rift between the District Attorney's Office and the rest of the city's law enforcement partners since District Attorney Larry Krasner first got elected. Critics often lament that it's harmed efforts to get crime under control.

Kenney is among those who's had a rocky relationship with Krasner, but he was quick to defend Krasner at a briefing on Wednesday — albeit with what might be considered faint praise. "I think he's doing his best," Kenney said.

Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw was in the briefing, but didn't comment.

Kenney said the administration has an excellent working relationship with federal and state partners too, and that all are committed to reducing gun crime.

"We're all on the same page," said the mayor. "There's no reason to be squabbling with each other."
