PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — City health officials are warning the public about a possible measles exposure at Philadelphia International Airport.
According to the Department of Public Health, the infected person was at Terminal E on Thursday, Feb. 12, between 1:35 and 4:30 p.m.
Measles spreads through the air when people cough, sneeze or talk. Anyone who may have been exposed should check their vaccination status and watch for symptoms like fever, runny nose, cough, and red, watery eyes.
People who aren’t protected against the highly contagious virus can contract it up to two hours after someone with measles has left the room.
If you are unsure of your vaccination status, officials recommend asking your health care provider about the MMR vaccine.
