Medical Report: There is no reason to suffer alone with generalized anxiety disorder

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Do you find yourself anxious and worrying most days of the week? If so, you are not alone.

The condition is called generalized anxiety disorder. The way it is described in medical textbooks is “excessive anxiety and worry occurring more days than not for at least six months.”

People with generalized anxiety disorder have a difficult time controlling the worry, and it can affect their happiness at home or their productivity at work. If you fit this description, you are far from alone. In fact, doctors have a seven-question screening tool called the GAD-7, which can help tell if you have the condition.

Counseling and commonly used medications have been shown to help. There is no reason to suffer. Take time to get it checked out.
