PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Three people are dead and at least two others are in critical condition after separate crashes overnight across Philadelphia.

Police say a 34-year-old man riding a dirt bike slammed into a SEPTA bus at Washington Avenue and Columbus Boulevard near Penn’s Landing Friday night, just before 11:30.

That person is in critical condition at the hospital, but after medics arrived, police say another car pulled up and stole the dirt bike.

Riding a dirt bike on the street is a crime. It's not clear if the driver will face any charges.

In West Philadelphia, a 30-year-old man was killed just before 2 a.m. Saturday after colliding with an SUV on his motorcycle, near 52nd and Chestnut streets. Police say the driver of that vehicle remained on the scene and waited for medics and police to respond. A passenger was injured, and is in stable condition.

Around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, not far from the stadiums in South Philly, near Penrose and Pattison avenues, the driver and front passenger of a Hyundai minivan were both killed when they ran head on into a parked front-end loader, and slid underneath.

The driver, a 32-year-old man, and the passenger, a 29-year-old woman, were pronounced dead at the scene. Three other women in the van were injured. One, a 28-year-old, is in critical condition. The other two are stable.

Police Capt. Christopher Bradshaw says they are looking into whether or not alcohol played a role. “We don’t know at this point. We don’t even know where they came from. At this point, we’re still trying to find this out,” he said.
