PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Two dozen people were shot in Philadelphia over the weekend, including nine victims who were along Allegheny Street in Kensington Saturday night.

Police say thankfully, no one died in the Kensington mass shooting, and investigators are now zeroed in, looking for a specific car.

All nine victims are now stable, and are expected to physically recover after 41 bullets were sprayed all over Allegheny Avenue Saturday night around 10:30 p.m.

It happened near G Street, about a block from the Allegheny subway station and about two blocks from McPherson Square.

“No one, no one should be able to buy a weapon that shoots 40 or more bullets in one standing without reloading,” said Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney.

“If it were a six-shot revolver, damage may have been done, but it would be less instantaneous.”

The youngest victim was 23 years old, and the oldest was 40. Their injuries range from being shot in the leg, chest and back.

“There is one who remains intubated. The rest are stable, and some have been released,” said Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore.

Police said they are looking for a car that could be connected to the shooting. Vanore described it as a 2003 to 2007 Honda Accord, metallic in color, black or dark gray. It also has blue-tinted after-market headlights and tinted windows, according to police.

“What makes that vehicle significant in this case is, on Oct. 7, an individual about two blocks away was shot in the leg and was grazed in the back by the occupants in the vehicle, we believe,” said Vanore.

Authorities have not yet connected a motive to the Saturday night shootings.

Police say that if they see any suspects in this case, they should call 911 immediately, but should not approach the suspects.

If they have tips, police say they can call or text 215-686-8477, call 215-686-8270 or 215-686-8271, or offer an anonymous tip here. All tips will be confidential.

The number of shootings in Philadelphia now stands at more than 2,000 victims. More than 420 of those have been killed. The city is just under the pace of last year’s record-breaking number of homicide victims.
