PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A pizza delivery driver shot at two gunmen who tried to carjack him in Chestnut Hill overnight, according to police.

It happened just after midnight on Stenton Avenue near East Mermaid Lane.

The driver told police the two men, who were wearing masks, forced him into the back seat of his car and demanded money.

At some point, they allowed him to get out of the car, and that’s when he pulled out his gun and fired at them.

One of the would-be carjackers was shot in the lower back. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to physically recover.

The other man ran across the Montgomery County border into Springfield Township. He remains at large.
