PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio)Philadelphia police confirmed Friday they found human remains inside a home they searched in the Frankford section of the city Thursday after receiving a tip.

Homicide detectives, crime scene investigators, and cadaver dogs from the police K-9 unit spent hours on Burton Street near Bridge Street, going in and out of the house.

With the help of the Sanitation Unit, police began clearing the property of trash, which was described as a hoarding situation.

They recovered a foot under cement in the basement of the home late Thursday night.

Neighbors expressed concerns about the situation.

“...I want to know what's going on on my block, because I live here,” said neighbor Jacklynn Kukucska.

“I just want to know if there's a dead body in that house, because if there is, I'm out of here. It's like a haunted block.”

Kukucska spent Thursday watching from her front porch as crime scene investigators in masks brought what looked like a hose and shovels from their truck to the house. Kukucska said she has seen conditions of squalor in the home.

“The one kid, he beat my son up and took his bike, and my father-in-law and my daughter kicked the door in, and I’ve seen it. It was dirty as hell,” said Kukucska.

“But I didn't know there was [a] body in there. That's crazy.”

Kukucska said she would give food to the family from that house, but didn’t know the mother.

Rennee Hasty is upset with the situation. She says she walks by the house every time she goes to the store.

"I got tears in my eyes because it don’t make no sense," Hasty said. "It could be somebody's mother, father, daughter. This could be somebody!”

"It just don't make no sense. It makes you not want to come outside just crazy."

Investigators are still looking for more remains.
