PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Philadelphia man has been sentenced to spend the next eight years in a New Jersey prison after his role in a deadly five-car collision on the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge in 2020.

Judge Philip Haines gave Brandon Moore, 24, that sentence Thursday after he pled guilty to second-degree vehicular homicide and third-degree assault by auto charges.

The Burlington County Prosecutor's Office said Moore's vehicle was going 112 miles per hour before losing control of his Dodge Charger on the bridge on the night of December 28, 2020.

The bridge's speed limit is 45 miles per hour.

Moore was chasing a Jeep SUV being driven by Jonathan Ramos, who also pled guilty to charges and has been sentenced to six years in prison.

Moore's Charger crashed into Ramos' SUV, forcing it into an oncoming traffic lane where it collided with a car being driven by Francisco Martinez, 35, who died.

“This tragic case underscores the truth of the old adage, ‘speed kills,’ said Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina. "The victim, Mr. Martinez, was killed just days after Christmas last year, and another holiday season is upon us.”
