EAST NORRITON, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — An arrest warrant has been issued for a suspect in a shooting Saturday evening that left one person dead and four others injured.

It happened shortly after 6:30 p.m. at Our Town Alley, formerly known as Facenda Whitaker Lanes.

"The defendant and two others enter the bowling alley," described Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele.

"The defendant hands his cell phone off to one of the men with him, and then a physical altercation begins between Jamel Barnwell and the victim, Frank Wade and other individuals."

Shortly after that, according to Steele, 17-year-old Jamel Barnwell of Upper Darby pulled out a .45-caliber firearm with an extended magazine and started shooting.

"This was a crowded bowling alley. There were 50 to 75 patrons. There were also a number of small children among those patrons in this bowling alley," added Steele.

When the air cleared and the shooting stopped, 29-year-old Wade was dead, while four of his relatives - 21-year-old Yahnirr Brooks, 31-year-old Shamir Jones, 26-year-old Robert Oliver and 19-year-old Ahmir Simmons - were taken to local hospitals with gunshot wounds.

East Norriton police said in a Facebook post that it's possible additional victims may have been taken to hospitals in private vehicles before first responders arrived.

Barnwell fled the scene, according to police. Authorities are asking the public to help find him.

"This defendant should not have had a gun and he is now wanted for murder," said Steele. "He is armed and dangerous."

Many at the shopping center called loved ones to pick them up. The shooting caught neighbors by surprise.

"I am shocked. I don't really know what to say," Gabriella Williams told NBC 10. "It's scary because stuff like this doesn't usually happen here in East Norriton."

One man told NBC 10 his brother was one of the victims. "We from Philly, you know, so we live with it, the shooting and all that," he said. "So we come up here to have a good time."
