PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Crime scene investigators and homicide detectives are at the Wawa on Columbus Boulevard at Tasker Street. They’re looking at a black Kia, with an Uber sticker on the front windshield, parked in front of the store.
Preliminarily, police say the 50-year-old driver went into the Wawa around 1 a.m. to get food. He spent about 10 minutes in the store then went back to his car to eat.
At some point, police say, he was stabbed. A few hours later, customers walking by the car noticed something was wrong. They told store workers, who called the police.
When fire personnel and medics arrived, they got the door open and saw the driver had been stabbed. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
There is no word yet from police about who may have been involved. There are surveillance cameras in this shopping center. The hope is they’ll help shed light on what exactly happened.
