Suspect wanted for teen's shooting death in North Philadelphia arrested in Georgia

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man wanted in Philadelphia for the murder of a 14-year-old killed in Hunting Park in November has been arrested in Georgia.

The Oakwood, Georgia Police Department said Haneef Roberson, 20, was picked up in Walmart after a call about alleged "fraud in progress."

The killing of Samir Jefferson happened in the late afternoon of November 29 along Hunting Park Avenue, while the teen was waiting for the bus.

Officials said during the initial investigation that two men got out of one or more cars and fired at least 35 shots from semi-automatic weapons while chasing the boy.

Two other men, Kyair Garnett and Quadir Johnson, have already been arrested and charged with murder.

A fourth suspect, Jahlil Williams, 23, remains at large. Williams had a history of criminal cases - an open gun case from August of 2020, and two other forgery and theft cases from early 2020.
