PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police are searching for two men in last week’s ambush and murder of a 14-year-old in the city’s Hunting Park neighborhood.

Two others have already been arrested.

One of the wanted suspects has several open criminal cases.

Authorities say four young men in their early 20s ambushed 14-year-old Samir Jefferson last week while he waited for the bus along Wyoming Avenue in Hunting Park.

Two were captured, Kyair Garnett and Quadir Johnson. Two others, 23-year-old Jahlil Williams and 20-year-old Haneef Roberson are wanted.

"I can’t think of any reason why multiple people would be involved in gunning down an unarmed and seemingly innocent young man," said Deputy Commissioner Ben Naish.

He said they are still investigating the motive, which could be linked to social media.

"It is not clear right now," Naish said.

"It was not a robbery, and it was not domestic, which are driving some of our shootings."

Williams had an open gun case from August of 2020, and also has two other forgery and theft cases from early 2020.

Police urge anyone who may know where Roberson and Williams to give them a call.
