Uber, Lyft drivers shot in separate incidents in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Lyft driver and an Uber driver were shot in two separate incidents in different parts of Philadelphia on Wednesday night.

Police said that the first shooting involved the Lyft driver. It happened at around 5:30 p.m. in West Philadelphia near the corner of 63rd and Arch streets.

A 46-year-old driver was shot in the leg, authorities said. He was listed in stable condition. Another man, 20, was shot in the thigh, according to police.

The second incident happened just over an hour later in North Philadelphia on Taney Street, near Cecil B. Moore Avenue.

Police said the Uber driver, a 44-year-old man, was shot three times in the head. He was listed in stable condition.

Police told KYW Newsradio that investigators recovered about 55 shell casings at the scene.

Police did not initially arrest any suspects from either shooting.
