The New York Giants went into London as heavy underdogs against the Green Bay Packers and came away with a 27-22 victory.

The Giants slowly but surely kept their offense moving along as they scored in all four quarters, including over half of their points in the fourth quarter with 14. They were trailing 20-10 at half but kept the Packers’ offense off the scoreboard in the final two quarters.

Despite a nagging injury to Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley leaving the game, the Giants pulled off the upset.

Paul Dottino and Shaun Morash of the Audacy Original Podcast “One Giant Step” talked about the Giants’ huge win and what it meant for Jones.

“It’s clear that this staff is not afraid to trust their players. I think they are just paying it back in spades because they’re doing what is needed to be done. And oh by the way, Saquon Barkley and Daniel Jones were magnificent (Sunday),” Dottino said (3:40 in player above). “This right now has got to be the trademark Daniel Jones game of his four-year career.”

Jones went 21 of 27 for 217 yards through the air. He added 37 yards on 10 carries as well.

“We’re not going to wait anymore on Daniel Jones,” Morash agreed. “What Daniel Jones did for this Giant team in London on Sunday – and Saquon’s a big part of this, I’m not trying to exclude Saquon – but I’m going to focus in here on Daniel Jones. All the excuses that those who have defended Daniel Jones. Offensive-line play. Lack of weapons. All of a sudden you see what smart, good offensive coaching can do when you play to a guy’s strengths.”

Jones went into London nursing an ankle injury, and you could tell that he still wasn’t 100%. However, the coaching staff designed plays for him that allowed him to use the strengths that he still had and it was “incredible to see.”

“He’s dragging a bum ankle up and down that Tottenham Stadium (on Sunday). That is a career-defining game and a positive for Daniel Jones, to me,” he said. “We’ve had some smiles and we’ve had a lot of bad. That’s my Daniel Jones moment. No matter what happens from here on out with Daniel Jones’ career – I hope there are a lot more positives. I hope there are some Super Bowls down the line. But Daniel Jones eventually is no longer the quarterback of the New York Giants, people want to badmouth him, to me I will always point to what happened versus the Green Bay Packers in London and against all freaking odds what Daniel Jones did on Sunday.”

Jones is in the final year of his rookie contract and the Giants are tied with the Cowboys at 4-1 for second place in the NFC East. If he can keep this up there’s bound to be more successful New York Giants football in the near future.
