(SportsRadio 610) - Free agent safety Justin Reid has found a new home.
After four seasons with the Houston Texans, Reid is signing a new deal with the Kansas City Chiefs worth up to $31.5 million over three years, with $20 million guaranteed, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Reid, still only 25, was considered perhaps the Texans' best free agent going into this offseason and it seemed unlikely they would be in the market to sign him.
In Kansas City, Reid likely replaces his former Texans teammate Tyrann Mathieu, who is also a free agent and expected to sign elsewhere.
The Texans are reportedly working to restructure safety Eric Murray's contract, and just re-signed reserve safety Terrence Brooks at the start of free agency. They also have Jonathan Owens, but should now be firmly in the market for another safety.
Reid started the majority of games and never played less than 85 percent of defensive snaps in his four seasons with the Texans.
