The Washington Football Team released another hype video that asks one simple question: “Why not us?”

After Washington’s 2-7 start to the season, there were plenty of doubters with good reasons for their doubts: The team didn’t look like a playoff team.

But after a three-game winning streak, it is evident the people in Ashburn aren’t listening to those naysayers whatsoever. And as Washington looks to get a big win and stay in the hunt for the NFC East crown against the San Francisco 49ers Sunday the message is once again to silence the doubters.

And after the New York Giants 26-7 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, FiveThirtyEight made Washington the favorites to win the NFC East.

The site gives Washington a 56 percent chance at winning the division, with the Giants next at 32 percent, the Philadelphia Eagles at 8 percent, and the Dallas Cowboys, who won Sunday, a 4 percent chance.

And while these videos could just be for fans, Ron Rivera said after Washington’s win over the Steelers, he used the hype video to motivate his team.

The night prior to the game in Pittsburgh, Rivera showed the team the video at the team’s hotel. And on Monday as the team was in the buses to the stadium, Rivera said he had a team staffer text the players the video for them to watch a second time.

That video, narrated by former Washington linebacker London Fletcher, was about underdogs. And the head coach told his players, “Even as the underdog, I prepare a victory speech.”

In the winning locker room after the game, Rivera began his victory speech with two words: “Underdogs win.”

Will history repeat itself in Week 14 vs. the 49ers?
