DUNCAN, S.C. — Tre Segarra rushed for a career-high 255 yards and four touchdowns on 17 carries as Byrnes rolled past Spartanburg 42-7 Friday night at Nixon Field.
Segarra’s breakout night powered an explosive Byrnes offense that piled up 537 total yards, including 356 on the ground. The Rebels (6-3) jumped ahead early and never looked back, scoring twice in the first quarter and adding two more touchdowns in each of the next two periods.
Quarterback Caine Rogers completed 18 of 26 passes for 181 yards and two touchdowns — one each to Nevan Wilkins and Jacobi Fuller — as Byrnes dominated every phase of the game.
Spartanburg (5-4) opened the scoring with a 26-yard interception return by Christian Davis, but the Vikings managed only 84 yards of total offense the rest of the way. Byrnes out-gained Spartanburg 537-84 and held a commanding 25-7 edge in first downs.
“Tonight was special,” Byrnes head coach Reggie Shaw said. “We challenged our guys and they answered the call. I am just so proud of these guys, especially on senior night.”
The Rebels will end the regular season slate on Friday night at Boiling Springs.
