When Spring Training got underway, the last bit of news any Braves fan wanted to hear was that of catcher Sean Murphy being sidelined due to a fractured rib he sustained earlier this month. Especially while Spencer Strider and Ronald Acuña Jr. continue to rehab their way back from injuries they suffered last season.

On Wednesday, former Atlanta Braves third baseman and eight-time MLB All-Star Chipper Jones, who currently serves as a hitting coach for the club, joined Steak Shapiro and Sandra Golden to give some insight on how the team has looked throughout Spring Training as well as what he believes will be the most important thing for the Braves to be concerned about this season.

“This club in years past has said ‘World Series or bust’ and what not, but how about we go a healthy 162,” Jones said, telling Shapiro and Golden he believes the 2024 season was a bust and “it’s time for us to stay healthy” noting how well Acuña Jr. and Strider have been doing throughout spring.

“Acuña looks great swinging the bat, you’re seeing Strider come back with a couple of good starts here in Spring Training and he won’t be long before he’s back," Jones said. "Let’s just stay healthy, hot at the right time in October and we’ll let the chips fall where they may."
