Young's poor performance fuels Panthers loss in opener

Offensive struggles doomed the Carolina Panthers in their season opening loss, Sunday. Carolina fell at Jacksonville 26-10, the game was tied at three after the 1st quarter.

Jacksonville outscored the Panthers 17-0 in the 2nd quarter to take a 20-3 halftime lead. The Panthers were held scoreless from the 1st quarter to the 4th quarter. The Jags added two field goals in the 4th to make it 26-10.

Panthers QB Bryce Young struggled in the game going 18 for 35 for 154 yards, a TD, two interceptions and a fumble. Young's three turnovers fueled the Panthers offensive struggles. Former Clemson star Trevor Lawrence was 19 of 31 with 178 yards, a TD and a pick for Jacksonville.

Former Tiger RB Travis Etienne had a big day with 16 carries and 143 yards for the Jags. Former Gamecock DB Jaycee Horn had an interception for the Panthers.

Jacksonville outgained Carolina 378-255 in total yards. The Panthers are 0-1, they travel to take on the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday. That game is set for a 4PM kickoff, you can hear all the action on Classic Rock 101.1 FM.
