As more leaks come out about negotiations around the Bradley Beal trade, Chris Paul, who is headed back to DC in the deal from Phoenix…blames Isiah Thomas for the trade?

Thomas is tight with Suns owner Mat Ishbia, and apparently, Ishbia was maybe looking to bring Thomas in as a consultant or employee of some sort?

“Has he ever Googled Isiah Thomas or looked at his Wikipedia?” Cakes asked as the guys opened Tuesday’s Junkies with some Beal talk. “He’s not the best employee! I might think nine times before hiring Isiah Thomas, might wanna stay away from him! He’s not gonna work for my basketball organization.”

“He’s a perfect work from home guy,” EB joked back.

Apparently the Knicks, one of Thomas’ former organizations, were also interested, but clearly, Phoenix is going for it, and Beal liked the idea of playing with three other superstars

“Phoenix has four max contracts, but if you can find a way to manage your money, why wouldn’t you want Brad Beal on your team?” EB asked.

“If you’re in go-for-it mode and don’t care about paying that extra luxury tax, why not go for it?” Cakes replied.

Drab agreed, asking why you wouldn’t trade “40-year-old Chris Paul for Brad Beal?”

“Give ‘em as many second-round picks as they want!” Bish shot back.

The guys were hopeful David Aldridge’s thoughts that the Wizards may end up with another first-round pick in Thursday’s NBA Draft, and agreed

“I’ve gotten to the point as a Wizards fan where I don’t even consider second-round picks valuable at all, because I can’t remember the last time one of those has panned out for the Wizards,” Cakes said. “I’ve been conditioned to learn second-round picks are like a black hole.”

Bish reminded Cakes that Gilbert Arenas was a second-round pick, although he wasn’t picked by the Wizards, but then again, a second-round pick just won Finals MVP, so…

“I would say 85 to 90 percent of those, you’re correct, but sometimes it happens,” Bish said. “But the NBA Draft is so much different now than when Arenas was drafted.”
