Illinois Has 1,453 New COVID-19 cases, 17 Deaths

SPRINGFIELD (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A day after Illinois' total coronavirus caseload surpassed 300,000, the state today added to that number 1,453 more cases, including 17 more deaths, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Of the recently deceased, a woman in her 30s, a woman and man in their 50s, two men in their 60s, a woman in her 80s and a woman in her 90s, all from Cook County; a woman in her 70s from DeKalb County; a man in his 70s from DuPage County; a man in his 80s and a man in his 90s, both from Monroe County; a man in his 70s from Will County; and a man in his 60s from Williamson County.

The IDPH currently is reporting a total of 301,541 cases, including 8,791 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years.

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from Sept. 27 through Oct. 3 is 3.3%.  Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 51,656 specimens for a total of 5,886,418.

As of Saturday night, 1,521 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19.

Of those, 384 patients were in the intensive care unit and 140 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
