10 armed robberies occur in less than 2 hours on South Side: CPD

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - An armed robbery crew is being sought for a string of hold-ups yesterday morning in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.

The armed robberies started just after 6 a.m.  on 46th and Albany, a 49-year old man sitting in a parked car, saw two men with guns get out of a car and approach him. They demanded his belongings and he gave them up. Between then and 7:45, there were five more armed robberies, the last one on 44th and Western.

Police said that, in one of the hold-ups, a victim was hit in the head with a handgun. The other victims were not physically injured.

NBC-5 said one of the victims was robbed while selling tamales with his mother.
