2 shootings in Gresham leave a woman dead, 2 wounded, including a 3-year-old girl

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Separate shootings in the Gresham neighborhood Wednesday night left one woman dead and a woman and a child wounded.

The first incident occurred at about 7:45 p.m. at 75th and Wolcott. Police said a garage was being burglarized. 21-year-old Jessica Hudson confronted the burglars and one person started shooting. She was hit in the chest, back and arm and died there.

Three hours later, on 76th Street, near Racine police said, a 31-year-old woman was standing in the parkway with a 3-year-old girl. Someone passing by fired shots at both. The girl was hit multiple times in her legs. The woman was hit in the foot.

They were taken to separate hospitals and were in good condition.

Nobody is in custody in either incident.
