CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - It’s Opening Day at Wrigley Field. The Cubs face the Brewers. The stage is set for what the Cubs hope will be a winning season.

There’s something about opening day. The return of the game. The anticipation of what’s to come. Not just on the field, but the promise of spring., before the monotony of a 162 game season.

“The first one is so special because I think everyone can remember their Opening Day,” Cubs Director of Communications Julian Green says.

The Cubs are expecting that new rule changes shortening playing time and increasing action, as well as a slight drop in ticket prices, will put more behinds in the seats. And, they will break the monotony.

Cubs President of Business Operations Crane Kenney says though what the ballclub does on the field matters the most.

“We’ve just got to play better baseball, and we’re on the path to do that,” Kenney says.

The Executive VP of Sales and Marketing Colin Faulkner says the 2016 World Series trophy in the new trophy room needs company.

“It’s the only trophy in there for now,” Faulkner says.

This is the Cubs 148th season.
