UPDATE: Teens killed in 3-car Wheeling crash from same high school

WHEELING (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - We’re learning new information about a northwest suburban crash that left four teenagers dead Tuesday night.

High School District 214 said in a statement that the four teenagers who were killed in the crash, and one teen who was injured were all students at Buffalo Grove High School. The teens who were killed were 16 to 18 years old, according to police. The crash happened around 10:20 p.m. at Dundee and Schoenbeck Roads in Wheeling. Police said several people had to be extricated from the three vehicles involved

Police said speeding and driving through a red light were primary factors in the crash. The district offers its thoughts and prayers to the families and friends of the students involved.

Buffalo Grove High School is closed today because of a fire Tuesday night, but counselors will be made available as soon as possible to help the school community deal with its loss.
