CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - An extra-alarm fire left one person injured Tuesday morning and damaged four homes in the Logan Square neighborhood.
The fire broke out on the back porch of a home on the 2400 block of North Washtenaw at about 6:15 a.m.
Deputy District Chief Robert Jurewicz said firefighters were here in three minutes and within 15 they called for more help as the fire was spreading from a two and a half story wood frame home to three others.
“One building (was) gutted, the other three buildings were exposures, firemen did a good job of keeping the fire to a minimum…We have garages in the rear but none of those were on fire,” Jurewicz said.
There was one minor injury, an occupant of the home where the fire started. About 125 firefighters responded. The cause is under investigation.
