CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Adams and LaSalle was the place to be Wednesday afternoon - if you wanted a presidential backdrop.

President Joe Biden was upstairs at a fundraiser at the JW Marriott Hotel.

The president was the unseen audience - perhaps even unaware he was meant to be the audience - as demonstrators for various causes raised banners and made some noise for his benefit.

There were anti-abortion demonstrators - with a couple of graphic signs as well as immigration rights supporters.

On the northwest corner of Adams and LaSalle, demonstrators against fossil fuels - who brought their own  brass band: the Windy City Ramblers made an appearance.

Bandleader Mario Abney said they were "trying to appeal to President Biden to keep his promises."
